A ride like a perfect autumn day: golden larches, soft light, flowing trails, and rocky passages with deluxe panoramas. Between high alpine passes, sweeping views, and warm late autumn light, a tour awaits that, in its short time, offers everything a biker's heart desires. ☀️🌲💛
With approximately 530 meters of ascent and over 1,500 meters of descent over just under 28 kilometers, this route is compact yet intense. It starts high in the Alps at the Lukmanier Pass at approximately 1,915 meters and initially leads steadily uphill to the Passo dell'Uomo. The climb runs through open terrain, always accompanied by that special tranquility that can only be found in the mountains. With strong legs, almost everything is rideable – and if you push the bike for a bit, you have the opportunity to take a deep breath and enjoy the view.
After a few final meters, you reach the Passo del Sole – at 2,364 meters, the highest point of the tour. A stop here is worthwhile: the panorama is simply stunning. The view down into the valley towards Olivone stretches far, the mountain ridges gleam white, and between them the larches glow a vibrant gold. It's one of those places where you simply stop, park your bike, and let the moment sink in.

Then begins what you've been looking forward to: the descent. Roots, rocks, flowing sections – it's all there. The trail constantly changes its appearance, but always remains playful and varied. Above the tree line, the view expands; further down, the paths lead through golden forests, where needles and light compete for the light. Here, the key is to stay focused and enjoy. The light is especially spectacular in the afternoon – warm, soft, and perfect for unforgettable photos.
The lower section of the Passo del Sole trail combines flowing lines with small technical challenges—just the right mix for fun while still being challenging. After that, the route continues at a more leisurely pace, and soon the Luco Paradiso tavern awaits. Anyone who stops here knows why the name says it all: cheese, salami, homemade gnocchi, and a cool drink provide the perfect conclusion to a tour that appeals to all the senses.
A short distance further on, the Acquacalda Trail offers another round of playful curves and a few final flowing meters up to Alp Pian Segno. From there, the route continues on the Segno-to-Campra Trail, which, with its technical nature and small challenges, demands your full concentration. But anyone who thinks the descent ends here is mistaken: The Sacch Trail leads across a wide streambed – usually dry in summer, but often filled with water in autumn – and continues down to Campra.
From here, the trail follows an old path that winds gently through the forest and eventually descends to Olivone. Perhaps a quick stop at the bakery awaits at the end – a fresh loaf of bread for the next morning, a smile still on your face, the sun at your back.

Culinary highlights on the go
🍝 Luco-Paradiso, Alpe Ghèna (The best way to check whether it's open is via Google.)
A quick stop is definitely worth it – for a plate of homemade gnocchi or a mixed platter. Both are a real treat after a trail ride through the golden larches.
☕ Campra Alpine Lodge & Spa, Olivone (@campralodge)
They serve first-class coffee and delicious cakes. If you have some time, you should definitely plan a stop—it's the perfect place to end the day in comfort.
Conclusion
The Passo del Sole is a tour full of character, emotion, and panorama. It combines alpine adventure with pure trail fun—a ride that moves the head, legs, and heart in equal measure. 🍂💛
